First Birthday Boxes Delivered for the School Year

With the end of August approaching quickly, not only does this mean the end of summer, but the beginning of the academic school year.  While some children may be less-than-thrilled to return to school, they still have a reason to smile:  birthday boxes!  Today, thanks to the generosity and help of our volunteer, Jeff Marker, who drove to the schools to drop off the gifts, HSP sent out its first batch of birthday boxes to Lake Park Elementary and Army Trail School, both of which are located in Addison.  We sent out birthday boxes to 23 impoverished children with September birthdays; 11 of these boxes went to Lake Park Elementary, and the remaining 12 went to kindergartners at Army Trail School.
HSP is partnered with both Lake Park Elementary and Army Trail School to reach out to needy children attending these schools.  Through our Children’s Birthday Project, we are able to provide a memorable birthday for 925 needy children.  Each child enrolled in the program receives 6-10 new gifts; 4-7 new, age-appropriate books; numerous filler gifts, such as stuffed animals; and a “Party-in-a-Bag” kit, which includes all of the things that make birthdays fun, such as a cake, candles, and party supplies, so a child can throw a great party on their special day.

If you would like to learn more about our Children’s Birthday Project, please feel free to call us at (630) 221-8340.  Here’s to the start of another fun school year and many more happy children on their birthdays!
